Special Features

HAFAS REST API

RMV uses the HAFAS REST API, which differs from the EFA-based providers. HAFAS provides a different data structure with transport categories identified by their catOut string rather than numeric class IDs.

Comprehensive Network

The Rhine-Main area has one of Germany's most extensive transit networks:

  • S-Bahn: 9 S-Bahn lines connecting the region
  • U-Bahn: Frankfurt's underground network
  • Tram: Tram lines in Frankfurt and surrounding cities
  • Bus: Extensive bus network
  • Regional trains: RE and RB services throughout Hesse

Long-Distance Trains

Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof is one of Germany's busiest rail hubs. The RMV API includes ICE and IC departures, making it useful for tracking long-distance train connections.

Real-time Data

HAFAS provides real-time data through the rtTime and rtDate fields, with delays calculated as the difference between scheduled and real-time departure times.
